What is a home inspection?

A home inspection is a process by which an inspector visually examines the readily available systems and components of a home. This includes structural, electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems such as the furnace and water heaters. The inspector evaluates these systems and components according to established standards and provides a documented report.

Who needs a home inspection?

Prospective home buyers and investors should learn as much as possible about the condition of the property and the need for any major repairs before purchase. A seller may adjust the purchase price or make repairs if major problems are found.

Prospective home sellers have inspections prior to listing to help eliminate unexpected last minute repair hassles that could potentially delay closings or having to negotiate for a lesser value.

A 2 to 3 hour inspection including a detailed easy to understand report with pictures and explanations costs, on average, $250.00 to $325.00
